Automatic Generation of Music for Inducing Emotive Response

Selections for the training corpora were taken from movie soundtracks due to the wide emotional range present in this genre of music. MIDIs used in the experiments can be found at the Free MIDI File Database: http://themesmididb.com/movies/ These MIDIs were rated by a group of research subjects. Each selection was rated by at least six subjects, and selections rated by over 80% of subjects as representative of a given emotion were then selected for use in the training corpora.
